Mr. Niek Koster

Mr. Niek Koster, CFRO of CK Capital Partners since July 2014. He has 25 years of experience in the financial industry. Since 1991 he has worked for a variety of financial institutions that represent a specific part of the financial spectrum. In 2013 Mr. Koster joined BlueCrest Capital where he ran a rule-based volatility strategy. This strategy acted as a tail-hedge for the BlueCrest Equity Fund and was designed and developed by Mr. Koster. Prior to BlueCrest Capital Mr. Koster worked at RBC’s structured equity trading desk from 2011 until 2013 where he headed the single stock trading team. He contributed to the expansion of RBC’s derivatives business in EMEA. During the last 6 months of his tenure Mr. Koster was interim head of trading EMEA. From 2003 to 2010 Mr. Koster was a partner and co-owner at Volteq Capital. Volteq Capital was the investment manager of the Volteq Long Short Equity Fund with returns of more than 8% per annum with a very low risk profile. In 2009 Volteq Capital was awarded 5 stars by Morningstar and was also voted best independent investment manager 2008 in Europe by World Finance.

From 1995 to 2003 Mr. Koster was a director at ABN AMRO where he was responsible for various trading roles within the equity derivatives group; starting in Amsterdam, followed by managing the German Equity Derivatives Team in Frankfurt and subsequently head of the German & Swiss Equity Derivatives Trading Team in London. His last assignment at ABN AMRO was integrating and managing the US equity derivatives business in New York after ABN AMRO had purchased ING’s trading platform in the US. Prior to ABN AMRO, Mr. Koster worked as a senior market maker at IOI in Amsterdam from 1992 to 1994 when the company was acquired by ABN AMRO. He started his career in 1991 as a junior marketmaker at IMC.

Before Mr. Koster began his professional career, he served for 18 months as a Platoon Commander and Lieutenant in the Dutch Army. Mr. Koster is a qualified Dutch CFA (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) and holds a MSc in Actuarial Science & Economics (cum laude Bachelor’s in Actuarial Science) from the University of Amsterdam (UVA), the Netherlands.
